In the last decade or two, the use of online brokers has increased dramatically. While having a stock broker can be affordable to some, paying someone hundreds of dollars when you’re actually trying to make money doesn’t exactly seem sound does it? More people are relying on the internet for all of their investments. Using online brokers is becoming a popular trend for those who don’t want to spend a lot of money.

Trying to determine the best online broker and making a decision about which broker to use can be very difficult. You want a company who uses references and has been in the business for a fair amount of time. While you will not have the opportunity to speak directly to someone, there are great benefits to using an online broker. Here are some advantages and disadvantages:

• The speed in which it takes for using online brokers is exceptionally fast. With just a few clicks here and there you can successfully make a purchase, or finish a sale. These sites compete amongst each other, so the sites are created to be as quick, efficient, and easy to use as possible.
• There’s nowhere to call, and you don’t have to worry about your broker not being available to speak to you. No matter which site you choose, you will always have access to your file.
• You have access to several different online markets. While this may not be instant, you may have to jump from one site to another, but this task is not all that difficult.

The Few Disadvantages:

• While many people enjoy the high tech way of using online brokers, many of us still prefer speaking to an actual person, and being face-to-face with someone when we need something. However, people must be prepared to pay the price for this. It’s a similar situation as when we need to call the phone company, speaking to an automated voice can make some people very angry. Even though online services may be easier, if you choose to select a broker, then selecting an experienced one is important.
• Slow internet connections, or no connection at all can be very aggravating.  There’s nothing like waking up in the morning, having a mug of coffee and realizing that you can’t check your stocks because you seem to have no internet connection.
